The Norwegian posted an unbeatable time of 1:11.79 minutes as Andrew Weibrecht of the United States notched just his second-ever podium finish by taking silver 0.31 seconds behind while Austria's Hannes Reichelt came third.
Svindal, the 2010 Olympic super-G gold medallist, picked up a valuable 100 points in his battle atop the overall World Cup standings with Marcel Hirscher – who finished tied for 23rd.
In addition to serving as a stand-alone World Cup race, the super-G is also the first half of today's Alpine combined with the slalom taking place later on.
Svindal will be gunning for a second career Alpine combined win but faces a battle with Austria's Hirscher and the other slalom specialist sure to be hot on his heels.
