Fenninger top in Austria

The Austrian laid down a marker on home snow with a time of 1:51.27 to finish ahead of Spain's Carolina Ruiz Castillo and Norwegian Lotte Smiseth Sejersted.

Fenninger, continuing a run of form which saw her win her first World Cup event, the giant slalom in Lienz, last week, was also a clear 1.33 seconds ahead of overall World Cup leader Vonn.

Defending overall champion Maria Riesch sat out the session with an illness.

Friday's training was cancelled because of adverse weather conditions so there will be no more training runs before the race on Saturday.
