The 22-year-old has been in fine form this season and success in the Nor-Am Cup at the start of the month brought about a maiden World Cup podium finish in the Are giant slalom.
On home snow in Sweden, Hector finished second before repeating the trick in a European Cup slalom in Zinal and she was to go one better in some style on her return to the World Cup.
Hector placed second after the first run in the first World Cup to be held in Kuhtai in Tirol with a time of 1:08.43 minutes, American Olympic slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin leading with 1:08.16.
However it was all change upon the conclusion of the second run as Hector finished with a combined time of 2:17.61 with Shiffrin falling down to third as Anna Fenninger moved up to second.
Fenninger finished just 0.09 seconds behind with Shiffrin 0.09 behind the Austrian home hope herself while World Cup giant slalom leader Eva-Maria Brem was fourth.
And Hector, who finished a best of 13th in the super combined on her Olympic debut in Sochi, admitted the addition of Kuhtai to the list of World Cup venues was a welcome one after her victory.
"I was in second place ahead of the second run and I was trying my very best to win and I am so happy to have done that," she said.
"It was tough; it was not like sunshine skiing. It's nicer to ski in the sunshine but it was good and it is a great feeling.
"It is a good hill for me now. It is a nice hill and a nice giant slalom hill. There is a lot of terrain and a lot of stuff happening."
