Lara Gut finished second behind Tina Weirather in the World Cup Super-G finale but it was still enough to take the title in St Moritz.
Swiss skier Gut knew she needed only a top-six finish to overtake the injured Lindsey Vonn in the season standings and claim her second Super-G globe.
And she achieved that comfortably, finishing 0.41 seconds behind Weirather who clocked a winning time of 1:18.93.
It was Weirather's second victory of the season in the Super-G and her third podium in the discipline this campaign.
Third place went to Austria's Cornelia Huetter, who was 0.59 seconds behind the winner.
It meant the final standings finished with Gut on 481 and Weirather on 436 followed by Vonn on 420.
It adds to a successful season for Gut, who will formally pick up the 2015/2016 overall crystal globe after the last race of the season on Sunday.
