Hirscher pipped American Ted Ligety to victory in the giant slalom on Friday and he was given another tight battle, this time in the form of Felix Neureuther, in the second slalom competition of the season.
The German, who battled a back injury for the better part of the offseason and finished third in the opening slalom race in Levi, was first after the opening run in Sweden with a time of 50.27, 0.25 seconds ahead of Hirscher.
But the Austrian put everything on the line to take the lead after the second run, clocking 49.85 for a combined time of 1:40.37 and eventually finish just a mere 0.1 ahead of Neureuther.
Alexander Khoroshilov, who equalled his personal best in Levi with an eighth place, became the first Russian skier to make a World Cup podium since 1981 when he picked up bronze.
Hirscher moves onto 440 points in the World Cup standings after his 26th World Cup victory, 28 points clear of Kjetil Jansrud.
