Tessa Worley leads Giant Slalom after first run in St. Moritz

Pre-race favourite Tessa Worley lived up to that billing as she put in a sublime performance to lead the women’s Giant Slalom on Thursday.

The French star stopped the clock at 1:02.01 to lead from Italy’s Sofia Goggia by 0.48 seconds.
“The day is not over but I am very happy with my skiing after the first run,” Worley said in the aftermath.
Mikaela Shiffrin’s time of 1:02.73 was enough for third, but Shiffrin sees room for improvement.
“I felt the skiing was okay but I just over-skied a little bit,” the American told Jonathon Edwards in the finish zone after the race.
