The 32-year-old took the win after posting a time of 1:55.89 minutes for his second podium finish of the season after a third in the Beaver Creek downhill at the start of the month.
Overall World Cup leader, Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud, was 31 seconds behind him in second while Dominik Paris gave the hosts something to cheer by finishing in third.
Nyman's first alpine skiing World Cup win came in Val Gardena as long ago as 2006 with his second following almost exactly two years ago on the same slopes.
And the America, who trails Jansrud in second place in the overall standings by 105 points, wants to carry on his recent good run of form.
"I've always felt comfortable here, from the first day I arrived in 2005," said Nyman. "I've actually crashed here as much as I've won. It treats me well, and sometimes it slaps me.
"I really hope I can carry it throughout the season and push for a title. Jansrud's in such good shape, so I've got a lot of work ahead of me."
