May 30 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Browns rewarded linebacker Christian Kirksey with a four-year, $38 million contract extension on Tuesday.

Kirksey led the Browns with 148 tackles last season, third-most in the NFL. He was scheduled to become a free agent after the 2017 season.

Chicago Bears backup quarterback Mark Sanchez injured his left knee during an organized team activity workout and will be sidelined until the start of training camp.
The nature of Sanchez's injury wasn't detailed in initial reports. Training camp begins on July 27.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Nolan Carroll was arrested early Monday in Dallas on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, multiple media outlets reported Monday.
Carroll was pulled over at approximately 2:15 a.m. for an unspecified traffic violation, and he was arrested at that time. He posted bond Monday afternoon after he was booked into Dallas County Jail at about 7:50 a.m.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin said he is unsure if Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is holding star quarterback Russell Wilson accountable enough in response to an ESPN story citing friction inside the locker room.
On an interview with 710 ESPN's "Brock and Salk," Baldwin admitted he did not read the entire article but praised Carroll for the job he has done managing personalities.
"I don't know (about Wilson's accountability)," Baldwin told 710 ESPN. "Honestly, I didn't even read the entire article. I read parts of it. Didn't really have time to read the whole thing."

Tony Romo's familiar locker and his No. 9 jersey are unclaimed at the Dallas Cowboys' training facility in Frisco, Texas. And there is no definitive meaning.
Romo is not officially retired from the NFL, a process that requires submitting paperwork through the league office. But owner Jerry Jones said last month he felt the process would be finalized after June 1.

The Detroit Lions signed running back Matt Asiata and offensive lineman Connor Bozick and waived fullback Michael Burton and injured linebacker Brandon Chubb, the team announced.
Asiata, 29, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings from 2012-16. He rushed for 402 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games (six starts) with Minnesota last season.
