Brazilian police arrests group plotting 'acts of terrorism' before Rio Olympics - source

The arrests come just over two weeks before the Olympic Games start in Rio de Janeiro.

News site Globonews has reported that the members of the group were linked to Islamic State (IS), although this has not been confirmed.

Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes is due to hold a news conference on the operation later this week, with details on the nature of the operation so far unclear.

Brazil's intelligence agency said on Tuesday it was investigating all threats to the Rio Olympics, and stepped up security measures following the truck massacre in Nice, France last week, planning security cordons, additional roadblocks and the frisking of visitors to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics.
