Doyle, who finished last in the final of the event in Rio but won bronze in the 4x400m, stopped the clock in 54.45 seconds, just behind Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad in first.
That result means Doyle now leads the Diamond League rankings with just one race to go, and she insists she is determined to take the title.
"I had a good solid race and I am very happy to have finished second behind the Olympic champion," she said.
"After having finished second in 2014, I am really motivated to win this year."
It was also a second-place finish for high jumper Robbie Grabarz, clearing 2.32m behind Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim with 2.35m, while Lynsey Sharp produced her third fastest time of the year to finish third in the 800m.
In the long jump. Lorraine Ugen placed second with a leap of 6.71m, with Rio teammate Shara Proctor two places behind with a best jump of 6.48m.
Bobsledder-turned-sprinter Joel Fearon finished third in the 100m in a time of 10.05, and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – a member of the 4x100m team in Rio – came through in eighth.
In the women's event, Desiree Henry, fresh from winning 4x100m Olympic bronze, crossed the line in fourth in a time of 11.17, and Cindy Ofili placed fourth in the 100m hurdles behind world record holder Kendra Harrison of the USA in first.
