Jessica Ennis-Hill has been ruled out of this weekend’s British trials but is confident of making next month’s World Championships.
The Brit, who has not raced competitively since winning gold in the heptathlon during last year’s Olympic Games, has been suffering with an ankle injury.
"Jessica Ennis-Hill will not be competing this weekend at the Sainsbury’s British Championships," read a statement from British Athletics.
"She is following a very comprehensive re-habilitation programme, working with the British Athletics medical team and her physiotherapist Alison Rose.
"Progress is slow but her coach Toni Minichiello and the wider medical team remain optimistic at this stage that she will be in shape to compete in the World Championships in August."
