Adam Gemili ended his season with a personal best over 200m, in Brussels, as he put the disappointment of Rio 2016 behind him.
The 22-year-old finished fourth in the Olympic 200m final, just missing out on a medal in a photo-finish, and was on the wrong end of the official timers in Belgium as both he and Julian Forte clocked 19.97s, but the Jamaican was given the win.
Gemili was, nevertheless, happy to end his season with a fine performance – breaking his personal best by 0.01s - and even had enough humour left to joke about photo-finishes on Twitter.
"I love a photo finish!" he tweeted. "Great to end my season with a PB in the 200m tonight. Thank you to all for the support this year, it's been amazing!"
Elsewhere in Brussels, the final Diamond League event of the season, Eilidh Doyle just missed out on securing the 2016 Diamond series for 400m hurdles.
Doyle, who had a six-point advantage heading into the race, missed out to America’s Cassandra Tate, finishing fifth in 55.26 seconds.
"It was one race too many," said the Scot.
"After a really consistent season, this one killed me. In the last 50 metres I had nothing left in the tank."
