Jessica Ennis-Hill marked her return to the heptathlon with an impressive fourth-placed finish at the Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis – a result that eclipsed the qualifying standard for the Rio 2016 Games.

The Olympic champion scored 6,520 points across the seven events, comfortably surpassing the tally of 6,200 required to earn a place in Brazil.
Ennis-Hill was third after the opening day of competition, but fell to eighth before a strong run over 800 metres propelled her narrowly short of the podium.
It was the 29-year-old’s first heptathlon since her London 2012 triumph.
Canada’s Brianne Theisen-Eaton took top spot with 6,808 points. Carolin Schafer (6,547 points) took second, with Nadine Broersen (6,531 points) finishing third.
Dafne Schippers was on course to finish second, but the Dutch sprint specialist withdrew before the event-concluding 800m due to injury.
