Tyson Gay - winner with USA men's 4x100m relay team
"The 4x100 really puts the icing on the cake for this week. I was extremely tired but my team mates told me come out and do it one more time."
Wallace Spearmon Jr. - winner with USA men's 4x100m relay team
"My only thought was to pass it as good as possible to the fastest man on earth. He is my role model, my hero everything. He was the leader of our team. It wasn't our best handover but we got the stick around."
Asafa Powell - member of the Jamaica men's 4x100m relay team who won silver.
"We were the team to break the world record but we made too many mistakes."
Allyson Felix - who won gold with America in the 4x100m relay, the 200m individual title earlier in the week, and will go for gold in the 4x400m replay tomorrow.
"It's special, it feels great, I can't wait to do it again tomorrow."
Felix's team-mate Torri Edwards
"I think it's very important, it shows how strong American athletes are at the moment. We're going to have a strong team going into the Olympics next year."
Meseret Defar - winner of the 5,000m
"In Osaka, I am the world champion and it feels great. It was a very slow race and it was an easy race for me."
Vivian Cheruiyot - silver medallist in the 5,000m
"I am so excited about my silver medal. These are my first world championships ... I was expecting second because Meseret is very strong, especially on the last lap."
Pole Vault winner - Brad Walker
"I think the competition was a phenomenal competition. We had eight jumpers who jumped 5.81 (or higher) which is just great."
Decathlon winner - Roman Sebrle
"This is the toughest of all my titles and very emotional. Now I have a full collection of medals and titles but my motivation still remains. I need to defend my title from Athens next year."
Decathlon runner-up - Maurice Smith
"I really surprised myself with the overall result, I feel like a winner. I feel so proud of my performance. I came here to Osaka prepared to win a medal and I expected Roman to win the gold."
