WHEN DO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS START?
On Saturday 22nd August. They run for nine days, finishing on Sunday 30th August.
WHERE ARE THEY BEING HELD?
In Beijing, at the famous Bird's Nest Stadium which was the host venue for the athletics at the 2008 Olympic Games.
WHO ARE BRITAIN'S BIGGEST MEDAL HOPES?
Britain has some great chances of glory, not least via Mo Farah, who will be trying to win gold at both 5km and 10km - just as he did in Daegu two years ago, and at London 2012.

2012 Olympic and 2014 European long jump champion Greg Rutherford also has a superb chance of a medal in the long jump if he has a good day - though his PB of 8.51m is one centimetre short of 2015's best jump so far, set by America's Jeff Henderson in July. Rutherford has a great knack of producing his best in big events, but Henderson's 8.52m came at the at the Pan-Am Games, suggesting his big event mentality is strong.
Potentially the most exciting event for British fans, though, will be the heptathlon – Jess Ennis-Hill and Katharina Johnson-Thompson both have high hopes of glory. Ennis-Hill hasn't been in a big event since London 2012 - indeed, she's only participated in one hepthathlon anywhere since London 2012, and only decided to take part a couple of weeks ago. KJT has had some injuries this year, but was in great form earlier in the season, was the best in the world in 2014 and will fear nobody. If all goes well and they're both fit, it's possible that they could have a fantastic head-to-head battle. Though Canada's Brianne Theisen-Eaton produced a stunning win in Gotzis back in May and could well steal the thunder.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR?
All eyes will be on the men's 100m, where Usain Bolt will be hoping to claim his third 100m World Championship title after having won the event in 2009 and 2013 (in 2011 he false-started in the final). But the odds are stacked against him: his season's best is 9.78s, making him only the sixth quickest man in the world this year.
Former drug cheat Justin Gatlin, meanwhile, has been untouchable at every big meeting he's attended this year and is odds-on to win both 100m and 200m gold.

Gatlin ought to be odds-on favourite to win the double - yet bookies, no doubt reflecting where the money is going, have installed Bolt as favourite to win both:
100m odds
Usain Bolt - 9-10
Justin Gatlin - Evens
Alonson Edward - 25-1
200m odds
Usain Bolt - 9-10
Justin Gatlin - Evens
Alonson Edward - 25-1
