Morocco name indoor squad

Morocco have named nine athletes, including Helsinki silver medallists Adil Kaouch and Hasna Benhassi last year, for the world indoor championships in March. Double Olympic champion Hicham El Guerrouj continues to be conspicuous in his absence, however.

El Guerrouj will not take part in the Moscow worlds on March 10-13 after missing last year's outdoor season through injury.

The outdoor world championships took place in Helsinki in August.

Moroccan athletes have won five gold, three silver and four bronze medals since the indoor worlds started 21 years ago.

The North African country's athletics federation named following squad on Tuesday:

Men: Laalou Amine, Chibi Mouchcine (800 metres), Amine Ait Baba, Bensghir Yassine (1,500), Adil Kaouch, Bellani Hicham (3,000)

Women: Hasna Benhassi, Ait Hamou Mina (800), Alaoui Meriem Selsouli (3,000)
