Olympics Rio 2016: GB badminton duo Ellis and Langridge bag bronze after beating Chinese pair

Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge won badminton bronze for Great Britain after the duo overcame China’s Biao Chai and Wei Hong in three sets.

The Briton duo were battling for bronze after losing their semi-final to China's Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan.

Ellis and Langridge, who were ranked 22 in the world ahead of the competition, are the first men's doubles pair to win a medal for GB.

They won the final set 21-10, but only after a review into the last point, which cranked up the tension with the pair knowing they were seconds away from a medal.

It's also GB's first badminton medal in 12 years, when Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson won mixed doubles silver in Athens.

"It's mental. It's the most incredible feeling, me and Marcus have worked so hard," Langridge told the BBC after.

"We know we can compete with anybody. We had a tough semi-final and they were better than us, but we knew we had a chance today," Ellis added.

"We're so happy to do it for ourselves and badminton, it's massive for our sport and I'm proud we can be part of it."
