Second baseman Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox is considered "day to day" by the team after sitting out the last two games because of left knee and ankle injuries.
Pedroia was expected to undergo an MRI and was seen by team doctors, but Boston did not offer more than the quick response in regard to his health.
The four-time All-Star was forced to leave Friday's game in the eighth inning against the Baltimore Orioles when he was spiked on the left calf by Manny Machado.
The 33-year-old Pedroia still has swelling in the knee and ankle.

The 28-year-old right-hander resides on the roster of Cleveland's Triple-A team in Columbus. He posted a 15-9 mark with a 4.07 ERA in 190 appearances with the three clubs, earning an All-Star invite in 2013.
Seattle pitcher Jonathan Aro was suspended 50 games for an unspecified violation.
Free agent right-hander Jeffry Hernandez was banned for 80 games after a positive test for the performance-enhancing substance Stanozolol. (Editing by Andrew Both)
