Blue Jays 5, Twins 1

David Price struck out 11 in his Blue Jays debut, and Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer, as Toronto defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-1.

Price (10-4) was cheered loudly as he warmed up before his first start since he was obtained from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. The left-hander allowed three hits, two walks and one run in eight innings for his first win since July 9.

He had been 0-2 with a no-decision in his final three starts with the Tigers. When he walked off the mound after the eighth, he received a standing ovation and tipped his cap in return.

Diamondbacks 6, Nationals 4

Rookie right-hander Zack Godley won his third consecutive start, and shortstop Nick Ahmed had four hits including a homer, as the surging Arizona Diamondbacks beat the slumping Washington Nationals 6-4.

Arizona (51-53) won for the eighth time in 11 games while Washington (54-50), in their first home game since July 22, lost for the fourth time in a row.

Mets 12, Marlins 1

Rookie left fielder Michael Conforto hit his first career home, a three-run blast, as the surging New York Mets routed the Miami Marlins 12-1 at Marlins Park.

The Mets got three doubles from center fielder Yoenis Cespedes, who drove in four runs in his third game since New York acquired him from the Detroit Tigers on Friday. His three doubles tied a franchise record.

Braves 9, Giants 8 (12 innings)

Third baseman Adonis Garcia hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Atlanta Braves a 9-8 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Second baseman Jace Peterson reached on an error to open the inning and Garcia followed with his third homer of the year to beat Ryan Vogelsong (7-7).

Padres 13, Brewers 5

Yangervis Solarte hit two home runs and the San Diego Padres collected 13 hits in a 13-5 rout of the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.

Solarte, the Padres' switch-hitting third baseman, got things started with a solo shot off Wily Peralta in the first inning. He ripped a three-run shot in the seventh off Preston Gilmet, capping a six-run inning that broke the game wide open.

Rays 5, White Sox 4

Mikie Mahtook came through with a two-out single in the ninth inning to score Logan Forsythe with the go-ahead run in the Tampa Bay Rays' 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Right-hander Jake McGee earned the win in relief, and right-hander Brad Boxberger pitched the ninth for his 27th save.

Rangers 12, Astros 9

Adrian Beltre highlighted a wild offensive night by hitting for the cycle, leading the Texas Rangers to a crazy 12-9 win over Houston Astros.

Beltre did not take much time to complete his third career cycle, capping the feat with a solo home run off Houston's Mike Fiers in the fifth inning. Beltre hit a two-run triple in a six-run first for the Rangers, doubled in the second and singled in a five-run third inning.

Beltre is now tied for the most career cycles in the major leagues, matching the total posted by John Reilly, Bob Meusel and Babe Herman. He is the first to complete a cycle in five innings since Melvin Upton Jr. did it with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2009.

Mariners 8, Rockies 7

The Seattle Mariners carried timely hitting to remarkable lengths on Monday, scoring all their runs with two outs and holding on to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-7.

The Mariners packed seven runs in the first three innings while punishing Eddie Butler. He gave up back-to-back homers to third baseman Kyle Seager and left fielder Nelson Cruz in the second and yielded a homer to Brad Miller in the third. The three homers allowed were a career high for Butler (3-8).
