A solid defensive effort from the Newcastle Eagles was the vital component behind their 91-83 win over Glasgow Rocks according to Rahmon Fletcher.
Fletcher took the MVP award for the third straight cup final after contributing 29 points to the Eagles' tally as well as six assists.
Deondre Parks added 25 points for the Eagles with Scott Martin adding 17 points.
Meanwhile five steals from Fab Flournoy equalled a BBL Cup final record, set by Tony Holley back in 2005.
"The biggest thing is that we locked in on defensive rebounds and defence," said Fletcher.
"And everyone knows our defence links into our offence. And I think that other than that first period, we did a good job.
"Credit to Glasgow but I’m glad we got the win."
