June 24 (The Sports Xchange) - Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love reportedly plans to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent.

Sources told ESPN.com that Love on Wednesday notified the Cavaliers that he is opting out of his contract, worth $16.7 million next season.
The Cavaliers apparently were not surprised by Love's decision and hope to re-sign the All-Star.

Shooting guard Monta Ellis plans to opt out of the final season of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Ellis is owed $8.7 million next season, but the Mavericks did not intend to attempt to re-sign Ellis despite the fact he averaged a team-high 18.9 points last season.

The Orlando Magic traded guard Luke Ridnour to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the draft rights to forward Janis Timma.
The 34-year-old Ridnour, an NBA veteran drafted in 2003 by Seattle, played in 47 games for the Magic last season and averaged 4.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds.
