Oct 22 (The Sports Xchange) - Guard Kay Felder of the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers was placed in the NBA's concussion protocol after taking a blow to the head during Friday's practice.

Felder, acquired in a draft night trade and later signed to a three-year, $2.4 million contract by the Cavaliers, averaged 8.8 points in 22.2 minutes during six preseason games.
The Horizon League's career assist leader is expected to back up starting point guard Kyrie Irving.
Felder will continue to be evaluated and is questionable for Tuesday's season opener against the New York Knicks.
Cleveland also waived guard John Holland on Saturday. Holland, 27, averaged 10.7 points in three preseason games.

The Detroit Pistons signed 7-foot-6. 300-pound center Mamadou N'Diaye to a contract.
N'Diaye averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks during the 2015-16 season at UC Irvine. He ranks first in career blocks in Big West history with 218.
The Dakar, Senegal, native went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. N'Diaye played in the summer league with the Golden State Warriors but was not signed to a contract.

The Denver Nuggets cut their roster to 15 players by waiving forward Robbie Hummel and guard Nate Wolters.
Hummel averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 98 games -- nine starts -- for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2013-2015 and signed with the Nuggets early last month.
Wolters played in 79 NBA games, with 31 starts, for the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans from 2013-2015 and averaged 5.8 points and 2.6 assists.

The Charlotte Hornets trimmed their roster to 15 by waiving forward Perry Ellis, guard Rasheed Sulaimon and center Mike Tobey.
