Kibermanis sets St Moritz track record on way to first World Cup win

Oskars Kibermanis secured his first ever World Cup win in the four-man bobsleigh as Latvia secured a one-two in St Moritz.

Kibermanis and his team of Janis Jansons, Matiss Miknis and Raivis Zirups set new records for the fastest start and an overall track record.
The Latvians came home in 1:04.05 minutes in their second run on the former Olympic track after a record start of 4.96 seconds.
Their compatriots Oskars Melbardis, Daumants Dreiskans, Arvis Vilkaste and Janis Strenga finished second 0.13 seconds behind after the two runs.
The silver medal was World champion Melbardis' first podium of this World Cup season.
German quartet Francesco Friedrich, Candy Bauer, Martin Grothkopp and Thorsten Margis completed the podium.
Alexander Kasjanov (947) of Russia maintains his position at the top of the overall IBSF World Cup standings despite his eighth-place finish in Switzerland.
His closest challenger, home favourite Rico Peter, was fifth after his two runs and closed the gap to 37 points in the overall standings.
There are three events left of the World Cup which finishes at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics track in South Korea.
