Adrien Broner turned in a dismal performance as he was defeated on points by fellow American Shawn Porter at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Broner did little or nothing for 11 rounds as he held and fouled his fellow American welterweight - he was deducted a point for holding in the 11th round - before making an astonishing bid to snatch victory in the 12th round when he dropped Porter with a left hook.
Porter recovered from being floored to take a deserved win with the judges scoring the fight 114-112, 115-111 and 118-108 in his favour.
He felt he was well worthy of the win having outworked Broner for most of the night.
I wanted a quicker pace, a faster pace and that's why you have a corner. I think if I had listened to them a little bit better I would have fought a bit better. These are things you can learn about, things you can build on, but this was great fight, a great win. I'll go back and enjoy this fight and keep on going.
Broner put a brave face on defeat, but he has now fell to 30-2 and with this second loss, questions marks loom large over the former world champion.
Broner was once touted as a great boxer in the Floyd Mayweather mould, but unless he finds the desire to match his mouth, he is likely to remain a figure who talks a good game rather than fight them.
Listen, I still will fight anybody," said Broner. It don’t matter, man. I’m a real animal. I’m an animal. This time I didn’t get the decision, but it’s OK. At the end of the day, everybody in here will take my autograph and take my picture.
Kevin of Iole of Yahoo Sports had this to say about Broner's dismal performance.
After the bout, Broner acted as if he didn’t much care. He earned $1.35 million, and clearly didn’t give an effort matching his purse. Broner is young – he won’t be 26 until next month – and given his fast hands and obvious talent, it’s not wise to rule him out. If he ever figures it out and doesn’t fight like an entitled, spoiled rich kid, he still could become great. But now? He’s far, far, far from being even remotely considered great.
