Rising prospects Chris Black and Jamie McLevy will be in action versus opponents TBA, respectively, at Scotstoun Sports Campus on Friday, May 28 and impressive victories could land both a Scottish title fight. In the main event, Clydebank’s Gary McArthur challenges Scottish light-welterweight champion Stuart Green of Glenrothes.
Coatbridge light-middleweight Black – who claimed the British Masters title in his last fight – is homing in on a Scottish title challenge against Irish-born, Glasgow-based champ Ciaran Duffy
And Whiteinch welterweight McLevy will be looking to stretch his unbeaten record to seven and move towards matching his Scottish title triumphs as an amateur in the pro ranks.
Gilmour said: “Both Chris and Jamie are entering really exciting phases of their careers. Since they turned pro it has all been about learning their trade, but now is the time for them to step up and prove they have what it takes to challenge for major titles.
“I want both Chris and Jamie to go out and take care of business impressively on May 28. It’s important that they don’t just win, but win in style because I want both to prove they are ready for Scottish title challenges in their respective weight divisions.”
And in two further intriguing all-Scottish clashes Bearden super-featherweight Richard Barclay faces Newarthill’s John Downie, whilst super-bantamweights Paul McElhinney of Newlands and Govanhill’s Ryan McNicol are also in action on the Chris Gilmour Boxing promotion.
Tickets are priced at £40 (reserved seating) and £30 (unreserved seating) and are available on 0141 810 5700 or through any of the boxers on the bill.
