In the featherweight main event seen on ShoBox from the Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino in Tulsa, OK, southpaw Orlando Cruz iced WBA # 5/WBC # 8 rated and fellow southpaw Leonilo Miranda with a straight left at 0:39 of round five.
The 27-year-old Cruz, from San Juan, PR, remains undefeated at 16-0-1, 7 KOs, while Miranda, 26, from Huatabampo, Mexico, loses for the first time – slipping to 24-1, 23 KOs.
In the co-feature, lightweight Marvin Quintero, from Tijuana, pounded Chicago’s Nick Casal into a corner retirement after round three. Quintero is now 15-1, 12 KOs. Casal falls to 18-4-1, 14 KOs.
Also on the show, 2008 US Olympian Gary Russell Jr., from Washington DC, made his pro debut at featherweight – securing a TKO3 victory over Antonio Reyes. Russell (1-0, 1 KO) dropped Dallas native Reyes in round two, who slips to 3-3.
