Return of the Mac Man - Lindsay wants title back

Warrior Promotions have announced the 31 year-old from Belfast will box on their show at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, April 25.

Lindsay has been out of action since being outpointed by Lee Selby in a British and Commonwealth title challenge last February. Manager John Rooney hopes that if he wins his six-round comeback fight at the York Hall, he will get the chance to win back the British title he took from Paul Appleby, then lost to John Simpson in his second defence 20 months later.

Rooney expects Selby to vacate after claiming a Lonsdale belt outright, and a winning return for Lindsay at the York Hall would put him back in mix, along with Commonwealth champion Josh Warrington and Samir Mouniemne.

Rooney said: "Martin has had a break and now he's coming back and wants another crack at the British title.

"We're expecting Selby to give up the title and I'm sure Martin is quite capable of beating Warrington or Mouniemne or anyone else who's out there.

"I would like to think Martin can have this six rounder, then get another crack at the British title if Selby does vacate."

In the top-of-the-bill fight at the York Hall, Ahmet Patterson defends his Southern Area welterweight strap against Adam Battle and Bushey-based Welsh teenager Romeo Ramaeo is matched tough - in just his fourth fight, he will face Welsh super-featherweight champion Dai Davies, who upset Andy Townend last weekend.

Also on the bill, Alan Higgins, the fancied Camden Town middleweight who beat Frank Buglioni and John Ryder in the amateurs, looks to extend his unbeaten record.
