The third fight of the evening was a Super-Middleweight engagement between Christian Pawlak of Hamburg, Germany and Ivan Stoval from Pomona, CA. The early rounds of this bout saw a feel out punchfest from both fighters. After sustaining a cut from a headbutt on his right eye, Stoval seemed to up the activity level. He targeted the body and started to cut loose. Pawlak returned fire and as the third round got underway, he seemed to move the fight to the middle of the ring. From that point on most of the action was center of the canvas. Both fighters seemed to have lead boots and just chose to slug it out. When the final bell sounded it was Pawlak who came out on top with a split decision win. The officials scorecards read 59-55 Stoval, 59-55 Pawlak and 58-56 Pawlak. The win moves Pawlak up to 11-3-0 and drops Stoval to 10-4-0.
Welterweight Bout
Anthony Lenk (5-0-0 3 KO’s) via Las Vegas, NV
Vs.
Jesse Vargas (4-0-0 2 KO’s) via Las Vegas, NV

The second bout of the evening carried a lot of promise as two up and coming Las Vegas prodigies stepped into the ring. Anthony Lenk was facing off against Jesse Vargas. Both fighters came in with undefeated records and looked to stay that way. Vargas was all business in the ring, and showed it with a right hand that dropped Lenk early in the first round. Lenk recovered well, but took a lot of shots in the process. The second round was a bit of a reversal in fortune as Lenk snuck in a quick right hand that landed well on Vargas’s chin. Vargas stumbled a bit, but fended off the attack that followed to avoid a knockdown. As the fight went on, Lenk seemed to pick up the pace and punch output. This added attack didn’t fair well with Vargas, and his jab output slowed in favor of a countering approach.
The fourth round saw Lenk incensed after receiving a low blow. His punch output increased significantly and he seemed hell bent of taking out Vargas. He forgot one thing though, to keep his guard up. For his lapse, Vargas tattooed him with another hard right and nearly put him down a second time. The fifth session saw a resurgent Lenk dancing and moving with surprising vigor. This newly found surge carried Lenk through the round and out into the sixth. The final minutes witnessed a lot of ammunition expended by both fighters. Vargas kept the pressure on, and his intensity paid dividends as another overhand right found its mark and put Lenk to the canvas. Although Lenk got up and avoided a knockout loss, the damage was done. When the score cards were read, Vargas was judged the winner on all three scorecards by scores of 58-54, 57-55 and 59-52. With this win he ups his record to 5-0-0, and stays undefeated. A hard fought loss drops Lenk to a respectable 5-1-0. This was an exciting fight that showcased what Las Vegas has to offer in the welterweight division.
