Texas welterweight champion Roberto Garcia recovered from second round knockdown at the Villarreal Events Center in McAllen Texas to stop the game Jose 'El Macho' Medina in round three on Thursday (Aug 26) night.

Garcia, who improved to 18-2-(14), was floored and cut around the eye but proved his mettle by charging out of his corner in the third round to wage war on the 30 year-old Puerto Rican. Both displayed incredible courage in battling it out but it was Garcia, with his left eye almost closed, that forced Medina to the Canvas with a series of unanswered punches in an all out attack. Medina managed to get to his feet but the referee waved the fight off.

Garcia won the WBC CABOFE interim welterweight title fir his efforts. Medina fell to 11-4-(9).
