Former unified junior middleweight champion Ronald “Winky” Wright will return from nearly an 18 months layoff to take on Michi Munoz, December 4 at the Snoqualmie Casino in Seattle, WA. Versus will televise.
The 36-year-old Wright (51-4-1, 25 KOs), a southpaw from St. Petersburg, FL by way of Washington DC, was last seen losing on points to Bernard Hopkins in July 2007. However, prior to the Hopkins setback, Wright was one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the sport – having defeated Shane Mosley (twice), Felix Trinidad and holding then WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor to a disputed draw.
Munoz, 27, a Mexican fighting out of Topeka, KS, has compiled a 21-2, 14 KOs record against respectable competition since turning professional in 2004.
