Championship leader Shane 'Shakey' Byrne was leading the race but he ended up dropping down as his bike evidently slowed due to an issue with his tyre.
That left Hickman and Brookes battling for top spot towards the end of the race.

Byrne led for the first-half of the race but around the half-way stage Hickman moved up into first with Brookes bumping the championship leader into third.
Although Byrne clocked the quickest lap of the race with a 1:14.845 he started to slow around lap 12 and eventually dropped right down.
Jake Dixon took second with Leon Haslam in third.
Bradley Ray was the first to crash out of the race but was fortunate not to sustain any injury.
Earlier Brooks secured his first victory of the season in Race 1 leading off Hickman again and Jake Dixon.
