Scotland have called up South Africa-born all-rounder Con de Lange for next week's Intercontinental Cup clash with Afghanistan in Stirling.
The 34-year-old Northamptonshire player has completed a four-year residency stay in the UK to qualify for his adopted nation.
He was part of a Scots XI side which cruised to a 275-run victory over the United Arab Emirates in a non-cap friendly in Southampton earlier this week.
De Lange will now join up with the rest of the Saltires side after the Cricket Scotland selectors named the squad which will face the Afghans in four-day match at New Williamfield, starting on Tuesday.
Preston Mommsen, who hit a century against the UAE, captains the side while 19-year old Andrew Umeed and Hamish Gardine are also included in the squad after impressing this week.
Scotland will have Durham duo Calum MacLeod and Gavin Main at their disposal as they start a journey that could pave the way to Test status, while Matthew Cross is expected to keep wicket.
However, former skipper Kyle Coetzer is among a five-man list who are unavilable for the match, with Ruaidhri Smith, Matt Machan, Josh Davey and Rob Taylor also missing.
Head coach Grant Bradburn said: "This is the first step in an exciting opportunity to push our case for Test status. We have had some good preparation against UAE, and will be looking to bring that confidence into this first key match of the I-Cup.
"We've got an exciting mix of youth and experience in our side and we will be looking to put the opposition under pressure in our home conditions at Stirling, which we know well."
Scotland squad: Preston Mommsen (capt), Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Freddie Coleman, Con de Lange, Alasdair Evans, Hamish Gardiner, Michael Leask, Calum MacLeod, Gavin Main, Safyaan Sharif, Andrew Umeed, Mark Watt.
