The quartet were all sanctioned by match referee Andy Pycroft after India sealed a 117-run win over Sri Lanka in an ill-tempered Test in Colombo.
Chandimal will miss his side's next one-day international, against West Indies on November 1, after making "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact" with Ishant after the Indian tail-ender engaged in a terse exchange with Prasad.
Thirimanne was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for twice ignoring the umpires' warning not to get involved in the row between Ishant and Prasad, the latter also giving up half his match fee.
Ishant was charged over a separate incident - giving an unnecessary send off to Upul Tharanga in Sri Lanka's second innings.
The combustible seamer was on notice having twice being charged for the same offence in the second Test.
He earned two suspension points under the ICC code and will miss India's next Test, against South Africa.
Any further such breach will lead to an even sterner ban - equivalent to eight penalty points or one year.
Pycroft said: "Monday's incidents were not good advertisements for international cricket.
"These experienced cricketers forgot their fundamental responsibilities of respecting their opponents as well as the umpires, and got involved in incidents which were clearly against the spirit of the game. Their actions cannot be condoned and must be discouraged.
"Chandimal was not directly involved in the incident between Prasad and Sharma, but came into the conflict and made deliberate physical contact with Sharma, and had the umpires not intervened, the situation could have escalated.
"As regards Sharma, he had been put on notice after being charged twice for send-offs in the previous Test. Any repeat of this action within the next 12 months will potentially see him suspended for a much longer period."
India completed their first away Test series win by bowling Sri Lanka out for 268 on Tuesday.
Angelo Mathews turned in a captain's performance with 110, his seventh Test century, but once Kusal Perera fell for 70 the rearguard was doomed.
Ravichandran Ashwin finished with four for 69 to conclude a fine series and Ishant returned three for 32.
