Silva suffered the injury during a practice game in Pallekele on Sunday ahead of Sri Lanka's tour of England and was air-lifted to a hospital in Colombo for "precautionary observation and tests", according to a short Sri Lanka Cricket statement.
It is understood Silva was fielding at short leg during the incident, and that a padded piece of protection at the back of his helmet prevented any major injury.
The padding has become a more visible element of cricket helmets ever since the tragic death in 2014 of Australian Phillip Hughes, who was hit while batting in a Sheffield Shield match.
Silva's team-mate Dimuth Karunaratne tweeted on Monday morning: "I met my batting partner @SilvaKaushal a while ago and he's perfectly allright now....he will discharge soon...."
Another SLC statement on Monday afternoon read: "Kaushal Silva transferred out of ICU and will be discharged tomorrow pending results of follow up medical examinations. #Lka".
Sri Lanka begin their tour of England early next month, starting with a warm-up match against Essex on May 8.
