Moeen Ali and Alex Hales both failed to impress as Alastair Cook's prospective new Test opening partner, as both fell cheaply in England's warm-up match in Sharjah.

Both were gone inside four overs and therefore fluffed their audition for next week's first Test in Abu Dhabi, as Pakistan A left-armers Junaid Khan and Mir Hamza picked up an early wicket each.
England, set to bat throughout this second and final day by prior arrangement, were 20 for two after half an hour's play on another stifling morning here.
Moeen had already played and missed, and counted a four on the ground but through the slips, in the same Junaid over before he pushed forward firmly in defence and edged to second slip.
An over later at the other end, Hales went in strikingly similar fashion to Hamza - this time edging to first slip.
Ian Bell and James Taylor were left with the task of steadying England, from 16 for two in reply to their hosts' 192 on day one.
