Shakib stars in Bangladesh win

Having crushed the tourists 3-0 in the Test series, the Tigers continued their dominance with an 87-run victory at Chittagong as Shakib scored 101 and took four for 41.

Bangladesh had gone 13 games without tasting success in the 50-over format, but Zimbabwe increasingly represent easy pickings.

The hosts posted 281 for seven batting first and dismissed their opponents for 194 with 7.5 overs to spare.

Both Bangladesh openers fell in the first 10 overs, Tamim Iqbal bowled by Tinashe Panyangara for five and Anamul Haque making a slow 12 before Tendai Chatara coaxed him into a loose stroke.

Mahmudullah lasted just nine balls before becoming Chatara's second victim, leaving the innings wobbling at 31 for three.

Shakib immediately settled things, compiling 39 alongside Mominul Haque to restore balance.

But that was merely the prelude to a match-winning stand of 148 with fifth-wicket partner Mushfiqur Rahim.

Shakib registered a busy, but unspectacular, half-century in 57 balls before upping the ante with a series of heavy hits off Sikandar Raza.

He and Mushfiqur milked the bowling for 48 during the batting powerplay, during which the total raced past 200.

Shakib's second fifty occupied just 38 deliveries, though he reached his sixth ODI hundred - and first in four years - with a gentle single.

He added just one more before pumping Tafadzwa Kamungozi straight to long-off, but Mushfiqur continued to reach 65.

There was a helping of late fireworks from Sabbir Rahman on debut, the number seven hitting three fours and three sixes in a 25-ball 44no.

Hamilton Masakadza hit three successive fours in Mortaza's second over but Shakib struck twice - removing Sikandar and Vusi Sibanda in the space of three balls - to regain the initiative.

Masakadza's resistance brought 42 and seven fours before he was third man down, lbw to Mahmudullah.

While Brendan Taylor was at the crease Zimbabwe still held out hope, but his battling 54 was not sufficiently supported.

Regis Chakabva was Mahmudullah's second scalp, making nine, and when Mushfiqur pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Taylor the writing was on the wall.

Shakib added two tail-end wickets to his tally for the day, with Arafat Sunny applying the finishing touch by bowling Chatara in the 43rd over.
