Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan on Wednesday revealed a new ODI skipper would be named in the "next two or three days" to replace Misbah, who retired from the format with 5,122 runs from 162 innings.
"I am doing a consultation, and we have to make a decision on one or two matters quickly; one is, of course, choosing the ODI captain, which will be my decision," Shaharyar Khan told a press conference broadcast on www.pcb.com.pk.
"I am consulting the former captain, former chairman of the PCB, well-known cricketers and others. After consulting with all of them I will make a decision, God willing, in the next two or three days."
The national team have come in for criticism following their World Cup quarter-final exit, though Misbah on Tuesday hit back at what he perceived was unfair targeting from sections of the media.
The PCB also plans to move quickly in making changes to its selection committee, with even chief selector Moin Khan's job not appearing to be safe with a potential tour of Bangladesh set for the latter part of April.
"I have been telling you for a while that we have to change the selection committee, so on that I am discussing with people. And on that as well we will make a decision in the next two or three days," Shaharyar Khan continued.
"I am saying two or three days because our tour to Bangladesh has not been finalised yet. But we have to keep preparing because the tour is in the third week of April and it is very close."
Moin was ordered home from the World Cup campaign in February following reports he visited a Christchurch casino.
Khan on Wednesday did not expand on why the selection committee needed a revamp, but, when pressed on whether the PCB would be looking for a chief selector, he said: "Yes, yes."
