Warwickshire crush Durham

They clinched back-to-back LV= County Championship Division One wins with another emphatic victory at Edgbaston.

The Bears followed up their 181-run victory over Worcestershire last week by cruising past Durham with a session to spare.

And Durham's title-credentials took a knock as they folded to their second defeat in three games.

Resuming on 189 for four they were all out for 327 after lunch, despite Mark Stoneman's 111, after being bowled out for 185 in their first innings.

Warwickshire, who posted 450 in their first knock, reached their target of 63 despite Jonathan Trott being run out for just six and Will Porterfield scoring two before being caught and bowled by Chris Rushworth.

Elsewhere in Division One, Hampshire drew with leaders Middlesex to stay bottom of the table.

They declared on 185 for five, with Michael Carberry top scoring with 57, after starting the day on 4-0, a lead of 55.

A draw looked likely at the start of play with Hampshire having scored 413 and Middlesex 362 in their first innings even before the captains finally shook hands.

Hampshire remain bottom, level on points with Worcestershire, while the visitors stay top with 84 points.

In Division Two, Lancashire thumped Leicestershire by 244 runs after bowling the hosts out for only 78 in their second innings.

Tom Bailey took five for 12 as just three Leicestershire players made double figures, Clint McKay top scoring with 17.

The hosts lost seven wickets for nine runs, being reduced to 29 for seven, and were all out in 30.3 overs.

Lancashire had declared on 203 for five with Ashwell Prince hitting an unbeaten 76 as the leaders continued their fine start to the season.

Essex finished on 51 for two against Glamorgan chasing 364 to win after losing Nick Browne and Jaik Mickleburgh for just 13 each.

Dan Lawrence (13 not out) and Jamie Porter (two not out) were left at the crease aiming for big scores on the final day on Thursday.

Hamish Marshall and Geraint Jones aided Gloucestershire's cause to set up an exciting final day against Kent.

After bowling out Kent for 235 in the morning Gloucestershire reached 282 for nine thanks to Marshall's 83 as he added 134 for the fifth wicket with Jones (55).

Meanwhile, Surrey are 155 for three in their first innings against Northamptonshire with Kumar Sangakkara unbeaten on 28 with openers Rory Burns and Zafar Ansari both falling to Azharullah.

Northants were 309 all out in their first innings of a rain-affected game at Wantage Road, Rob Newton hitting 95, with the match heading for a draw.
