WICB: BCCI talks are progressing

An internal contractual dispute led to the West Indies squad leaving India midway through their tour despite having three Tests, a fifth ODI and one Twenty20 match scheduled.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have responded with a £26.2million damages claim against the WICB, which it holds solely responsible for the financial loss incurred due to the cancellation.

It is well known that West Indian cricket does not have the means to meet such a figure and WICB officials are hopeful of forging a diplomatic solution, but for now they are pleased with how discussions are going.

"The WICB is pleased to report that the parties are making progress with regard to the premature end to the tour of India," a statement from the board read.

"President Dave Cameron met and had preliminary talks with officials from the BBCI while attending an ICC meeting in Dubai recently. The WICB has also officially responded to the letter received from the BCCI. The WICB remains confident that an amicable and mutually agreeable resolution can be had."

While that has yet to be resolved, the Windies are keen to move on and eight players who were part of the India tour have also been called up to take on South Africa in a three-match Test series, which gets under way in Centurion next month.
