Russia's Sergey Ustiugov made it three wins from three in the Tour de Ski by triumphing in the 20km skiathlon.
The 24-year-old beat former tour winner Martin Johnsrud Sundby in the final sprint to win the race in 48 minutes 40.4 seconds, 0.6 seconds ahead of the 32-year-old Norwegian.
Sundby recovered after taking a wrong turn earlier in the free technique section of the race in Oberstdorf, Germany.
Swiss Dario Cologna was third, his first podium finish of the season.
Ustiugov increased his Tour lead to 29.5 seconds over Sundby in second. Canadian Alex Harvey finished fifth and stays third in the overall standings, while Cologna is fourth.
Ustiugov said his tactics in the final stages were impulsive as opposed to pre-planned.
"It was a really hard race today," said Ustiugov. "I gave my best. On the last climb I felt the pace went down and I decided to attack. It was not planned. I reacted on the situation."
Sundby added: "I made a mistake in the free technique lapping and took the wrong turn. Today was all about fighting for bonus seconds. The finish was OK, but it's a lot of seconds on Sergey now."
