Denmark one win from PyeongChang after reaching curling play-offs

Rasmus Stjerne's rink will now have two shots at reaching PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the first to come against the other team that finishes in the top two.

Failing that, they'll have another chance by facing the team that finishes third come the end of the round-robin stage, which concludes on Saturday in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

That opportunity came after a comfortable 7-3 win over the Netherlands, always poking themselves ahead throughout the contest – 5-3 ahead by the end of the sixth end.

From there rounding out the game was a formality, though a position in the play-off place was certainly not an easy passage.

"We are relieved for sure [to be in the play-offs]," said Stjerne.

"It has been a hard event. Netherlands were good, we knew they wouldn't give up. We were head all the way, but they were just behind us.

"We can relax a little bit now, because we have our chance for the Olympics."

Meanwhile Italy are still in contention for a play-off place after securing their fourth win of the competition, against the host Czech rink.

A heavy-scoring eighth end was to account for that, Italy's fourth player Amos Mosaner scoring three points to take his side two points clear, eventually winning 10-6.

Their four wins, two losses record is shared by China however, who prevailed over Finland 10-6, while Czech Republic and Russia with three wins each can still reach the next phase in their bid for PyeongChang.

But it's the end of the path for Finland and the Netherlands, while Germany also cannot qualify after their 6-5 defeat to Russia.
