Scotland, who had beaten Italy earlier in the day, fought back against the Danes by taking three points in the ninth end to level the score.
But Martin's team were unable to claim the final point they needed, instead allowing Denmark to nestle a winning stone near the centre.
"They showed a lot of character to come back but I'm disappointed to lose to Denmark because we believe we're better than them," coach Mike Hay told reporters.
Much attention has been focused on Scotland's team ahead of the Dec. 22 selection of Britain's Olympic curlers for the Winter Games in Turin in February.
Britain's women captured the imagination of curling and non-curling fans alike three years ago by winning the country's first gold medal in the Winter Olympics since 1984.
Scotland's men are ranked top going into the European semi-finals.
They meet fourth-placed Norway on Friday, with the winners advancing to a final on Saturday against Sweden or Switzerland.
