Led by Eve Muirhead, who is defending her title in Karlstad, the Scottish women eased past the Czech Republic 10-2 before the tables were turned and they were on the receiving end of a similarly one-sided scoreline, going down 9-2 to Sweden.
Despite the setback - the Scots' second of the championship - they find themselves in fourth place, just one win behind a trio of leaders in Group A.
Denmark, Russia and Sweden all have 4-1 records and share top spot in the premier class. Switzerland are tied for fourth with Scotland, while the Czechs and Germany sit in sixth. Bringing up the rear, with a lone victory each so far, are Finland, Hungary and Italy.
In the men's section, Scotland bounced back from two defeats a day earlier - including a 9-1 hammering by Denmark - to edge Norway 7-6 and end the day in seventh place after two wins and three losses.
At the top of the group, hosts Sweden continued their imperious form with a fifth straight win, 9-2 over Germany, to remain unbeaten at the tournament.
In Group B of the men's B-tournament, England enjoyed a good day, claiming two victories - 7-5 over Slovakia and 6-4 over Finland - to stay joint top of the pool with Finland after four wins and just one defeat.
Wales fell to a pair of defeats, 6-4 to Estonia and 11-3 to Turkey, and remain rock bottom with a 1-4 record.
In the women's B-tournament, England were trounced 9-0 by Slovakia before falling to Poland 11-5. They sit in seventh with a 2-4 record.
