Eve Muirhead was satisfied after her team bounced back from their opening game loss to Denmark, with a comfortable 10-5 win over Latvia in Sunday morning’s second session of women’s round-robin play in Champery.
Muirhead – who took bronze with Team GB’s curlers in Sochi earlier this year – gave Scotland a 5-2 lead in the fourth end with a gentle tap-up to lie shot after they took a steal of three in the first.
The 24-year-old secured another two points in the sixth end with a solid hit and stay shot, before taking three more in the ninth.
Her last stone nestled onto another Scottish counter in the house to take it to 10-5, prompting Latvia to concede the match.
The Scottish women now take on the Czech Republic this evening who are looking for their first win of the competition.
"That was a lot better, we all played well out there," said Muirhead. "As a team that was a lot more like us, a lot more solid.
"They weren’t silly, they played a good game, we remember that from playing them in Latvia itself.
"There are always areas to work on – we’ve just got to get on top of that ice early on, as it’s a bit slow.
"Ok we went down yesterday, but we had a really good second half of the game then and we’ve carried that forward to today."
