Scotland skip Eve Muirhead insists while a stuttering start isn’t ideal there is still a long way to go at the World Women’s Curling Championships after back-to-back defeats on Sunday.

The Scottish team never truly recovered from losing two shots in the first end of their afternoon fixture with Olympic champions Canada, eventually losing 9-4 despite being just one shot behind at 5-4 after six ends.
They then faced hosts Japan in their third round-robin game, who had earned a confidence-boosting 6-5 win over Sweden earlier in the afternoon.
After Japan had taken a single shot from the first end, Muirhead gave Scotland a healthy 3-1 advantage in the second after drawing her last stone into the house.
However things changed in the next end as Japan skip Ayumi Ogasawara tapped-out a Scottish stone to give her team three points and restore a Japanese lead, by 4-3.
The two sides traded shots to take the score on to 7-7 heading into the final end, but a misjudgement from Muirhead with her last draw gave Japan a two-shot steal and a 9-7 victory.
Muirhead said: “We were on the back foot straightaway against Canada. We gave up a two in the first end and were chasing it from there.
“I then had the draw for the win against Japan but it just slipped a foot too heavy. It’s early in the week, but it’s not helpful.”
China, Russia and Switzerland all boast 100 percent win records after five sessions of play, all having won three matches, while Canada, Finland and Japan all have two wins and one defeat.
Scotland, Germany and Sweden all have a solitary win and two defeats to their name and Denmark and Norway are yet to win a match. © Sportsbeat 2015
