Muirhead skipped Britain's women's rink to curling bronze in Russia back in February, that in addition to David Murdoch leading the men's team to silver in the Black Sea resort.
Despite heading to Sochi as world champioN, one of two global medals she's won, in addition to four European including gold, the 24-year-old admits the bronze has changed her life.
Her rink has also changed too with Claire Hamilton stepping away in May and Sarah Reid the replacement alongside Vicki Adams, Anna Sloan and alternate Lauren Gray.
Their biggest test as a new rink is about to begin with the European Championships set to start in Switzerland where last year, as Scotland, Muirhead started on fire but had to settle for silver.
Muirhead won all nine of her round-robin matches in Stavanger before brushing Switzerland aside in the one-two page play-off but lost 10-5 in the final to Margaretha Sigfridsson and Sweden.
Sigfridsson won't be in Champery this time but still Muirhead insists her Scottish rink will need to be even better than they were last year if they are to finish on the podium again.
"We've had a solid start to the season and Sarah's fitted in really well. It's a work in progress but we're still one of the best teams around and our chances in Switzerland are good," she said.
"It's huge what winning an Olympic medal does to you. It was like a whirlwind afterwards and it does change your life in a lot of different ways. But now we're back to normal and a lot of training.
"We can't take our foot off the gas; if we perform the way we did last year it won't be good enough this year. We need to stay ahead of other countries.
"We're going to have to be at the top of our game; you can't write off any nation. We plan our calendar around these events so it's a case of getting out there and seeing it through."
