The Swiss rink, skipped by Peter de Cruz, picked up three in the fifth end and two in the seventh, to head into the final two ends leading 6-4.
And a treble in the penultimate end brought a premature close to the match as the home favourites prevailed 9-4 to make it eight wins from eight in the round robin phase, with just one match left to play.
Also qualifying for the semi-finals were Sweden, who overcame a stern test from Norway to win 9-7 and secure their place in the final four.
Scotland are one of three teams tied in third place on five wins and three losses, along with Norway and Germany.
The Germans has a relatively easy day at the office on Wednesday, beating Russia 7-2 with two ends to spare.
While the Netherlands edged a narrow game against Italy – winning 6-5 in an extra end to ensure they're next in the table with four wins and four losses.
Russia and Italy have three and two wins respectively, while Austria won the battle of the basement nations 9-4 against Slovakia in just eight ends.
It was not enough to avoid relegation though, with both countries condemned to competing in the B Division next season.
