"Tinkoff Sport A/S -- Managing company of team Tinkoff Saxo - and Bjarne Riis have reached a mutual agreement to terminate all contracts entered between Tinkoff Sport A/S and Bjarne Riis with immediate effect," the team said in a statement.
Tinkoff-Saxo, who have yet to name Riis's replacement, said on Tuesday that the Dane was "not involved in team activities".
Media reports suggested that Riis had been suspended because of the team's poor results this season, with highlights being Alberto Contador's second place overall at the Ruta del Sol and Slovakian Peter Sagan's fourth place in Milan-San Remo.
Riis, the 1996 Tour de France winner who later confessed to doping, has been involved in cycling management since 1999.
He led Italian Ivan Basso to the 2006 Giro d'Italia title, Carlos Sastre and Andy Schleck to Tour de France wins in 2008 and 2010 respectively, as well as helping Contador to the Vuelta title in 2012.
