We decided to attack early in the stage. It is not easy at all to find the right breakaway at the Giro d'Italia but we succeeded.
I fought until the end to gain the win but I can be happy with my performance. The crowd along the route was awesome, very exciting.
There is definitely a higher level in the peloton at the Giro compared with other races.
Everyone goes faster despite this stage race being so demanding.
I am gaining experience day by day and meeting interesting people. On Thursday I met Felice Gimondi who is definitely one of the most famous champions in the history of cycling.
It was fantastic to meet him and he is such a caring person. I am also enjoying the beauty of the nature as we travel through the Italian countryside.
We started from Venice almost two weeks ago and now we are going down to the south. We spent two days in Austria. I saw different places, different buildings and cool panoramas.
Also we tried different foods. It is amazing and very enjoyable. This is one of the best features of being a professional rider.
I fell in love with the "Cinque Terre" scenery. During the race I don't get time to see the surroundings but when I tested the route before the Giro I realised it was so cool.
I wasn't too disappointed with my performance in the time-trial in the Cinque Terre. I could have rode better for sure, but I was not too far off the times of the best riders.
I didn't go as well as I wanted but I did the best I can. It was a very demanding stage with tough climbs and technical descents.
It was a shame I couldn't use the Bianchi TT bikes because the route was too technical but the Bianchi road bike is perfect, light for climbing and strong for the descents.
With more than a week racing to go, I'm definitely feeling better and more comfortable as the race progresses.
