Kennys set to make track return as British Cycling announce podium programme

Cycling's golden couple, who married after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where they won five gold medals between them, welcomed their first child, Albert Louie, in August.

Though admitting he had secretly retired post-Rio, Jason confirmed earlier this year he will return to the boards for the Revolution Series, beginning his quest to become the most successful British Olympian of all time at Tokyo 2020.

The six-time Olympic champion has been named in an eight-strong sprint squad by British Cycling, alongside fellow Rio medallists Callum Skinner, Philip Hindes and Katy Marchant.

Laura – herself a four-time Olympic gold medallist – features in the women's endurance squad alongside the likes of Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker.

Steven Burke and Ed Clancy headline the men's endurance team, while Chris Froome, Owain Doull, Geraint Thomas, Lizzie Deignan and Dani Rowe are among 13 riders named in the road squads.

Annie Last, who won silver at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships earlier this year, rejoins the mountain bike programme's senior squad, while Manon Lloyd, Mel Lowther, Emily Nelson, Jack Carlin and Joe Truman graduate onto the podium programme.

"The announcement of the podium and senior squad riders consolidates our squad for the 2017/18 period and I'm pleased with the depth of talent we have across all the Olympic disciplines," said performance director Stephen Park.

"I'm also pleased to see the graduation of five senior academy riders onto the podium programme over the year and enjoying success at elite world cup level already, with Manon, Emily, Jack and Joe all being able to list a gold medal in their palmares.

"Overall, I think we're in a good position for this stage of the Olympic cycle – we have some very talented bike riders progressing well on the programme, and indeed significant talent across the country to keep them honest, so I look forward to seeing what this new season brings."
